Nanotechnology Patent Granted for Radiation-Blocking, Anti-Chemical Protection Fabric

Posted in Nanotech by boobalan on February 5, 2009

Radiation Shield Technologies (RST), Miami, Florida, has been granted a patent by the United States Patent and Trademark Office for its Demron product, a protective material for all types of chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear incidents. Demron is comprised of a radiopaque nanopolymeric compound fused between layers of fabric which are then made into lightweight nuclear-radiation blocking garments including full-body suits, vest, blankets, medical X-Ray vests and aprons. The suits are lightweight, flexible, and foldable, unlike conventional nuclear suits. The product is already in use by many sectors of the United States government, as well as the governments of South Korea, China, Saudi Arabia, and Australia, among others.
